Chain Tensioner
NOTE:
The drive chain should be inspected
monthly. New chain has a tendency to
stretch.
Figure 16
Remove the chain case top cover. Check
tensioner spring (Item 1) and chain (Item 2)
for proper tension. Replace the
tensioner spring if it becomes too loose to
maintain proper chain tension.
NOTE:
Chain tension is preset with the tensioner
spring. If the chain becomes excessively
loose, it may be necessary to remove one
link (two pitches). If unable to reassemble,
add an offset link to lengthen the chain.

. Install new chain and

Re-install the chain tensioner spring, check for
proper tension. Re-install top cover.
Lubricate chain every 10 hours of operation with a
chain spray lubricant.
The drive chain should be inspected monthly. New
chain has a tendency to stretch, so it is necessary
to check the chain tension to prevent flopping
around, thus causing potential problems. Chain
tension is preset with the extension spring. If the
chain becomes excessively loose, it may be
necessary to remove one link (two pitches).
