Performing a sensor test
To check whether the device is cor-
rectly connected:
In the "
Installation
" menu, select
and confi rm the "
Sensor test
"
menu item as described under
"Operating the menu" on p. 12.
The sensor data are displayed.
GPS Sat
(test of the GPS an-
tenna): If the GPS antenna is
connected, "
OK
" appears. If the
device receives GPS satellite
signals, their number and fi eld
strength are displayed. The GPS
antenna must be aligned so that
it receives at least 4 satellites
and the fi eld strength is greater
than 40.
Direction
(test of the reversing
light signal): If you connected the
reversing signal, "
Backward
" must
appear if the vehicle is in reverse
gear, and "
Forward
" if the vehicle
is not in reverse gear.
Ignition
(test of the positive igni-
tion connection): If you turn on
the vehicle ignition, "
On
" must
appear.
Speed signal
(test of the speed-
ometer signal): If you connect-
ed the speedometer signal and
move the vehicle a little bit, the

Calibrating the device
Before you use the navigation sys-
tem for the fi rst time, you must cali-
brate it.
You can calibrate the naviga-
tion system either automatically
on a longer calibration trip (5 to
15 km) or manually on an exactly
measured distance (100 to 500 m)
(see p. 80).
To calibrate the device:
Switch on the vehicle ignition.
Install the navigation software
(see p. 46).
Keep the navigation CD in the
CD drive.
In the Settings menu, select
and confirm the "
Installation
"
menu item as described under
"Operating the menu" on p. 12.
