GLOSSARY
Characteristic Impedance
— Resistance to AC
current flow presented by a long cable. An AC
parameter; not related to DC resistance.
Coaxial Cable
— A type of cable in which the inner
conductor is surrounded by a tubular conductor,
which acts as a shield. Coaxial cables typically have
a wide bandwidth.
Collision
— The result of two stations simultaneously
attempting to transmit data, resulting in a runt
packet.
Crossed Pair
— A wiring error in twisted-pair cabling
where a pair on one connector of the cable is wired
to a different pair on the other end of the cable.
