◆
Swivel the steam nozzle (8) away from the brew
head (13).
◆
Turn the steam switch on (3). The heater light
will illuminate (4).
◆
As soon as the heater light extinguishes,
insert the steam nozzle into the frothing
pitcher, just under the surface of the milk.
◆
Hold the jug with one hand and slowly turn the
steam control knob (7) counterclockwise to
release the steam into the milk.
◆
Froth the milk for approximately 50-60 seconds.
Do not let the milk boil, as boiled milk will not
froth.
◆
Close the steam control knob by turning it
clockwise and turn off the steam switch.
◆
Remove the jug from the steam nozzle.
Pour the hot milk into the espresso and spoon
the froth on top.
Making hot water (fig. A & C)
The steam nozzle can also be used to make hot
water for tea.
◆
Make sure the water reservoir is filled.
◆
Swivel the steam nozzle (8) away from the brew
head (13) and place a cup under the nozzle.
◆
Switch the appliance on (1). The heater light (4)
will illuminate.
◆
As soon as the heater light extinguishes,
turn the pump switch on (2).
◆
Open the steam control knob (7) by turning it
fully counterclockwise.
◆
When the cup is filled with the desired amount
of hot water, close the steam control knob by
turning it clockwise. Turn the pump switch off.
Cooling the appliance
If you want to make more espresso immediately
after using the steam nozzle, the appliance must
be cooled first.
◆
Place a cup under the brew head and turn the
pump switch on (2).
◆
Let water run through the appliance for a few
seconds, then turn off the pump switch.
CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE
Before cleaning and maintenance, switch
the appliance off and remove the plug
from the socket.
◆
Remove the drip tray cover (9), the drip tray (10)
and the water reservoir (5) and wash them in
hot, soapy water. Dry all parts and refit them.
◆
Wipe the outside of the appliance with a damp
cloth.
Cleaning the steam nozzle (fig. C & D)
The steam nozzle should be cleaned each time
after is has been used for frothing milk, to prevent
it from getting clogged.
◆
Be careful when cleaning the steam nozzle (8)
as it may still be hot.
◆
Close the steam control knob and wipe off any
milk residue from the outside of the nozzle.
To clean the inside of the nozzle, proceed as follows:
◆
Switch the appliance off and top up the water
reservoir. Place a cup under the steam nozzle (8).
◆
Turn the pump switch on (2). The heater light (4)
will illuminate.
◆
As soon as the heater light extinguishes, slowly
open the steam control knob (7) by turning it
anti-clockwise. Hot water will come out of the
steam nozzle.
◆
Fill the cup with hot water in this way to flush
out old milk.
◆
Turn off the pump switch and close the steam
control knob by turning it fully clockwise.
Descaling the appliance (fig. A & D)
If the appliance is used in an area with hard water,
it is advised to descale the appliance when the
brewing time gets noticeably longer.
◆
Detach the strainer (18) from the brew head (13),
by removing the centre screw (19).
◆
Use a commercial descaling agent for coffee
makers, or use water and vinegar as follows:
◆
Fill the water reservoir (5) and add 3 teaspoons
of vinegar. Operate the appliance as for
making espresso until the reservoir is empty.
Thoroughly rinse the reservoir.
◆
Repeat this procedure 2 or 3 times with fresh
water.
