4.4.5 S.M.T.P. Server
This section is used to configure the device to use your S.M.T.P. Server. This
allows the device to send emails. The device has been tested with a number of
S.M.T.P. Servers but is not compatible with every server. It is known to work with
Google's S.M.T.P. Servers such as gmail.
When a local S.M.T.P. Server is used, you may need to specify a DNS server for
the Network Configuration (see section
for
details) for the device to send e-mails successfully.
You can also click the
Test
button and enter an email address to test your
configuration.
4.4.6 Security
This section contains the security options available for you. It is intended to be
used by those with advanced Networking/Security knowledge only.
Note:
The BNCU ships with a certificate from the BioTector Certificate Authority
(C.A.)
The BioTector C.A. is based on a self-signed certificate
This means that the C.A. and consequently the certificates issued will not be
trusted by default. This leaves you with four options:
1. Avoid using HTTPS.
2. Add an exception for each certificate.
3. Add the BioTector C.A. certificate to your company's active directory.
If it does not work with Firefox, use Google Chrome. This will make
BioTector issued certificates to be trusted.
