CLUTCH ADJUSTMENTS
Maintaining the proper tension on the clutch cable is
critical to the longevity of the motorcycles clutch.
If the clutch cable is too tight, the clutch plates will not fully engage. This causes the
clutch to slip. If the clutch cable has too much slack, the clutch will not completely release.
This may cause hard shifting, vehicle creep, overheating and warping of the clutch plates
and may make finding neutral difficult.
AN IMPROPERLY ADJUSTED CLUTCH CABLE CAN CAUSE CLUTCH PLATES, CLUTCH PUSH
RODS AND CLUTCH THROW-OUT-BEARINGS TO OVERHEAT AND/OR WARP. CLUTCH REPAIRS
AND ADJUSTMENTS ARE A SERIOUS MATTER AND SHOULD ONLY BE PERFORMED BY A BIG
DOG MOTORCYCLES DEALER OR AUTHORIZED SERVICE CENTER.
