PREPARATION (CONT.)
Tools needed
You will need the following tools to install the fan. If you are installing an outlet box, additional tools
may be necessary. Consult the outlet box manufacturer’s instructions.
• Ladder
• Hex key (provided) • Wire stripper
• Adjustable wrench • #1 Phillips screwdriver
Preparing the mounting location
For mounting methods not covered in this manual, contact Haiku Customer Service.
If you are mounting your fan to a ceiling-mounted outlet box, the outlet box must be UL-listed and
marked
“Acceptable for Fan Support.” If there is not a UL-listed outlet box at the location where you
are installing your fan, one must be installed on a ceiling joist or beam and properly wired. At least 8”
(20 cm) of wiring should be hanging from the outlet box. The illustration below shows a typical outlet
box used for fan installations.
