SETTING TORQUE FOR BOLT TIGHTENING
1. Determine the correct torque for bolt tightening.
NB: Many factors have an impact on the torque/induced load ratio; for example, the surface
finish and the amount/type of lubricant should be considered.
2. Divide the required torque by the ‘multiplication factor’ of the torque multiplier. The input torque is
thus obtained.
3. Select a torque wrench whose range includes the value of the input torque.
The wrench should be of high quality and regularly calibrated.
SETTING TORQUE FOR RELEASING BOLT
1. To prevent the torque multiplier from being overloaded, a torque wrench should also be used to
release the bolt.
2. Divide the maximum output value of the torque multiplier by the ‘multiplication factor’. The input
torque is thus obtained.
3. Select a torque wrench whose range includes the value of the input torque.
NOTE: Some torque wrenches will not be active (snap or release) when is used counterclockwise.
