4.2.4 Command Release
To test the RELEASE function, be sure that the unit is ON-ARMED with the pin extended. Place the
deck unit transducer very close to the 865-A, similar to Figure 4-2. Send a RELEASE command:
a.
Set the deck unit TRANSMIT FREQUENCY (Tx) to the receive frequency of the 865-A, as in
4.2.2a.
b.
Set the COMMAND to the letter code designated on the 865-A for RELEASE.
c.
Send a Command.
NOTE : It is sometimes very difficult to get a command through in air. If you have trouble, do not
panic! This is normal, as the system is designed to operate in water where the sound paths are
more predictable. Simply move the transducers to slightly different positions - often as little as
one inch (1") is all that is necessary to make the difference. It may be helpful to line the test area
with foam rubber to dampen reverberations.
When a command is successfully received, note that the release pin will fully retract so that the
lever may swing free. At full retraction, the motor shuts off and the 865-A will automatically
transmit four pings.
d.
Now send several single transponds on the proper code and verify that bursts of five pings occur
from the 865-A.
