Software Serial Number
During the installation process, the installation program generates a software
serial number from the hardware key and displays it to the installer. It then stores
the serial number in the file, \NetSpeak\config\ns_reg.ini.
Refer to the initialization (.ini) file if the serial number is ever lost. It is required
when ordering registration files from
Bay Networks Customer Service
.
Registration File
Registration files contain the server-specific information required to use Voice
Services software. The registration file associates the Voice Services with the
hardware key. That is, the registration file only works with its associated hardware
key.
Bay Networks provides an initial registration file on a diskette. During the
installation process, the installation program prompts you to insert the diskette
containing the registration file. The registration file has the file name extension
.reg and is stored in the path, \NetSpeak\config\.
If the Voice Services software is re-installed on (moved to) another computer, the
same registration file can be used only if the associated hardware key is connected
to the parallel port of the new computer. If the installation program detects a
mismatch between the registration file and the hardware key, the Voice Services
software will install, but the registration file will not work. Therefore, the server
cannot operate.
Starting the Server Installation Program
The Voice Services Software and Documentation CD contains the Voice Services
software. Use the instructions below to install the Voice Services software.

2.
