Double Action - System Ankle Joint
Please read these instructions for use carefully before using
the product. Take special care to follow the listed safety
regulations.
Usage guidelines
The product may only be fitted by or under the supervision of a competent
professional.Special precautions must always be taken for patients with a
visual impairment, cognitive limitations and/or reduced sensibility in the
upper and/or lower extremity. Changes, modifications and adjustments to
the product that are not described in these instructions, are done at the sole
responsibility of the person carrying them out.
Intended use / Application
The Titan Double Action joint supports ankle-foot movement and regulates
dorsal and plantar flexion. This ankle joint is used in orthotics for the lower
extremity. The ankle joint is available in 2 sytem sizes and can either be
used unilateral (medial or lateral of the ankle) or bilateral. When the system
ankle joint is used unilateral, we recommend the orthosis processing in a
resin or carbon fiber technology to prevent torsion. A bilateral application
is possible without any specification of the processing technique. The joint
must not be subjected to full load-bearing as in the case of an orthosis with
tuber support. The indication and the duration of treatment are determined
by the physician.
Indications
The physician is the person who states the indication and also determines
the duration of treatment. The joint can be used in case of partial or
complete paralysis of the leg muscles, which often have a neurological
origin, such as:
• Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis
(ALS)
• Apoplexy (CVA)
• Cerebral palsy
• Craniocerebral trauma
• Guillain-Barré-Syndrome
• Incomplete paraplegia
• Multiple sclerosis
• Muscular dystrophy
• Paralytic syndromes of the
lower extremity
• Poliomyelitis
