This section provides an overview of all the main safety aspects involved in
ensuring optimal personnel protection and safe and smooth operation.
Non-compliance with the action guidelines and safety instructions contained
in this manual may result in serious hazards.
2.1 Intended use
The instrument is designed and constructed exclusively for the intended use as
described here.

The manual grinding wheel is only intended to be used for
grinding ophthalmic lenses (silicate lenses, CR39, poly-
carbonate and Trivex).
Compliance with all instructions given in these operating instructions forms part
of the intended use.
Any use deviating or varying from the intended use is considered incorrect use.

Danger resulting from incorrect use!
Incorrect use of the manual grinding wheel may result in
hazardous situations.

The instrument must not be used for materials other
than the ophthalmic lenses listed above.
•
The instrument must only be used under constant
supervision.
•
Keep untrained persons away from the instrument.
•
Do not set up the instrument near optical measuring
instruments.
Any claims due to damage arising from incorrect use are excluded.
2.2 Responsibility of the healthcare establishment
The instrument is used in the commercial sector. The healthcare establishment
where the device is to be used is therefore subject to any legal obligations
including occupational health and safety (e.g., the regulations for accident pre-
vention valid in Germany).
The healthcare establishment is also obliged remain infor-
med of all relevant, local laws valid at the time the device is
being used and any standards and guidelines associated
with these laws and to adhere to these.

The healthcare establishment must ensure that a damaged or non-functional
