The rotating grinding wheel may cause grazes on the skin
and the lens may cause cuts and burns.

All work must be done with extreme caution.

1. Check the level of the water collection container Chapter 7.2.1 ‘Check water
on page 20).
2. Fill the water tank, if necessary, with tap water and place on the attachment
surface (Chapter 7.2.2 ‘Filling the water tank’ on page 21).
Grinding ophthalmic lenses with water cooling depends
on the material (e.g., silicate glass or CR39). Other ma-
terials (e.g., polycarbonate or Trivex) may only be ground
while dry.
3. Set the direction of rotation of the grinding wheel
Chapter 4.3 ‘Direction of rotation switch’ on page 14).
4. Switch on the device (Chapter 7.2.4 ‘Switching the instrument

the water tank’ on page 21).
The tap water wets the grinding wheel through the sponge.
6. Grind the ophthalmic lens on the grinding wheel.
In the case of the hand grinding stone 2918 10, the grinding wheel starts as soon
as the operator‘s hands are at a distance of approx. 4 to 5 cm from the wheel.
The grinding wheel stops as soon as the operator‘s hands are outside the
sensor range.
