SECTION 4: CLEARANCES TO COMBUSTIBLES
4.1 Re q uired Clearances to Combustibles
Clearances are the req u ired distances that
comb u stible objects m u st be a w ay from the heater
to prevent fire hazard. Comb u stible material that
may catch fire incl u de common items s u ch as w ood,
paper, r u bber, fabric, etc. Maintain clearances to
comb u stibles at all times for safety.
Clearances for all heater models are located on the
serial plate of the heater and thro
u gho u t the man u al.
Check the clearances on the serial plate to make
s
u re the prod u ct is s u itable for yo u r application and
the clearances are maintained. Read and follo w the
safety g u idelines belo w :
• Keep gasoline or other comb u stible material
incl u ding flammable objects, liq u ids, d u st or
vapors a w ay from this heater or any other
appliance.
• The stated clearances to comb u stibles
represents a s u rface temperat u re of 90° F
(50° C) above room temperat u re. B u ilding
materials w ith a lo w heat tolerance (s u ch as
plastics, vinyl siding, canvas, tri-ply, etc.) may be
s
u bject to degradation at lo w er temperat u res. It
is the installer's and o w ner's responsibility to
ass u re that adjacent materials are protected
from degradation.
• Cons u lt local Fire Marshall, Fire Ins u rance
Carrier or other a u thorities for approval of
proposed installation w hen there is a possibility
of expos u re to comb u stible airborne materials or
vapors.
4.2 Clearances to Combustibles
Clearances m u st be as indicated on Page 6, Figure
3 . If clearances to comb u stibles are not indicated,
then installation clearances apply.

WARNING
Fire Hazard
Keep all flammable objects, liquids and
vapors the minimum required clearances to
combustibles away from heater.
Some objects will catch fire or explode when
placed close to heater.
Failure to follow these instructions can result
in death, injury or property damage.
Clearance to V ent: 2" (5 cm)
*18" (46 cm) minim u m is necessary for
servicing.
