Power supply units
2.1
Intended use
The power supply unit is designed for a 3-phase network
and for indoor use in industrial areas. It is suitable for
supply from TN, TT or IT networks.
Proper function according to the specifications in the
technical data is only assured when the product is used
solely as described in the user’s guide and the respective
documents as well as in compliance with the technical
specifications and requirements and only with suitable
original Balluff accessories.
Otherwise, there is deemed to be unintended use.
Unintended use is not permitted and will result in the loss
of warranty and liability claims against the manufacturer.
2.2
Reasonably foreseeable misuse
The product is not intended for the following applications
and areas and may not be used there:
– Outdoors
– In safety-oriented applications in which personal safety
depends on the device function
– In explosive atmospheres
– In food applications
2.3
General safety notes
Activities such as
installation
,
connection
and
startup
may only be carried out by qualified personnel.
Qualified personnel
are persons whose technical
training, knowledge and experience as well as knowledge
of the relevant regulations allows them to assess the work
assigned to them, recognize possible hazards and take
appropriate safety measures.
The
operator
is responsible for ensuring that local safety
regulations are observed.
In particular, the operator must take steps to ensure that a
defect in the product will not result in hazards to persons
or equipment.
The product must not be opened, modified or changed. If
defects and unresolvable faults occur in the product, take
it out of service and secure against unauthorized use.
The diaphragm on the back of the device (aluminum
housing) is a function- and safety-relevant component and
must not be damaged or removed under any
circumstances.
The device is designed for TN, TT networks with grounded
neutral conductor and IT star networks with insulation
monitoring as well as for overvoltage category III zones up
to 2000 m (6560 ft) and for overvoltage category II zones
up to 5000 m (16400 ft). For TN, TT, IT delta networks or
IT star networks without insulation monitoring, the device is
intended for overvoltage category II up to a distance of
2000 m (6560 ft). The device is designed to be safe even
in the event of a single-phase failure and does not require
external protection. However, the functionality is then
restricted (see section 6.7 on page 17). The device is
designed for altitudes up to 5000 m (16400 ft). Above
2000 m (6560 ft) a reduction in output current is required
and operation is limited according to the network systems
described above.
The housing of the device provides a degree of protection
of IP65/67 when firmly attached to all mating connectors.
The device is designed for areas with pollution degree 3 in
controlled environments. Do not allow moisture or dirt to
enter the connections during installation.
Hot surfaces
The housing heats up under normal operating conditions.
There is a risk of burn injuries. Avoid direct skin contact
with the surface.
