Replacing Cutting Blades
1 . R ais e t h e need le t o t h e h ig h es t pos it ion b y t urning t h e h and w h eel
t ow ard you.
2 . Us ing t h e A llen s c rew d riv er f rom t h e ac c es s ory pouc h , loos en
the needle screw for the needle to be changed. “L” screw for the
left needle and “R” screw for the right needle as shown in. (fig. A)
Note:
T o prev ent t h e need le f rom f alling int o t h e need le plat e, h old
it w it h t h e need le ins ert t ool as you loos en t h e need le s c rew .

3 . Us e t h e need le ins ert t ool or t w eez ers t o ins ert t h e new need le
with the flat side to the back. Insert the needle as far as it will go.
Check the needle viewing window. (fig. B)

Note:
If you do drop a needle down into the machine just pull out
t h e need le- d rop d raw er at t h e b ot t om of t h e s erg er.
The needle will be on the drawer. (fig. C)
The lower fixed blade is made of a special long lasting steel and does
not require frequent replacement. If necessary, contact your nearest
Baby Lock retailer for replacement of this blade.
The upper moving blade is made of a softer steel material and will require
replac em ent . A s pare b lad e is prov id ed w it h t h e m ac h ine f or replac em ent ,
if nec es s ary. T h e s pare b lad e is loc at ed in t h e t h read s pool s t and
ac c es s ory c om part m ent .
I f f or s om e reas on your m ac h ine d oes not c ut or perf orm as it s h ould ,
please take your machine to your nearest Baby Lock retailer. It is
pos s ib le t h at t h e res ult of poor c ut t ing m ay ind ic at e ot h er prob lem s .
To replace the upper moving blade,
f ollow b elow ins t ruc t ions .
1. For safety reasons, unplug main power cord.
2. Open front cover and cutting blade cover. (fig. A)

4. Remove screw and upper blade. (fig. B)
5 . I ns ert new b lad e int o b lad e s lot .
6 . I ns ert s c rew and h old m ov ing b lad e in it s h ig h es t pos it ion w h ile
t ig h t ening t h e s c rew .
7. To finalize position of upper blade, turn handwheel so that the moving
b lad e is in it s low es t pos it ion. L oos en t h e s c rew s o t h at t h e m ov ing
blade can be lowered to 1mm overlap of the top of the fixed blade.
