EP820 All-In-One EPIC Board User’s Manual
Award BIOS Utility
55
This item specifies the power saving modes for ACPI function. If
your operating system supports ACPI, such as Windows 98SE,
Windows ME and Windows 2000, you can choose to enter the
Standby mode in S1 (POS) or S3 (STR) fashion through the setting
of this field. Options are:
[S1 (POS)] The S1 sleep mode is a low power state. In this
state, no system context is lost (CPU or chipset) and
hardware maintains all system contexts.
[S3 (STR)] The S3 sleep mode is a lower power state where
the information of system configuration and open
applications/files is saved to main memory that remains
powered while most other hardware components turn off to
save energy. The information stored in memory will be used
to restore the system when a “wake up” event occurs.

the selection of

value is “
Yes
”.
No
System BIOS will ignore APM when power is managing the
system
Yes
The System BIOS will wait for APM’s prompt before it enters
any PM mode (i.e., DOZE, STANDBY or SUSPEND).
Note: If APM is installed or there is a task running, even when
the timer has timed out, the APM will not prompt the BIOS to
put the system into any power saving mode
!
NOTE: If APM is not installed, this option doesn’t work.
