Printer Setup Mode Printer Setup Mode
Printer Setup mode is used to set the communication parameters as outlined in the table.
These parameters must match those of the host computer in order for the host computer
and the printer to communicate.
Note: Printer Setup mode is also used for setting other functions. Be careful not to
accidentally change the settings for the other functions. For more information, see
“Printer Setup Mode” in chapter 3.
The following table lists the communication parameters and their default settings.

1. If necessary, turn the printer off.
2. Press and hold the Paper Feed button and then press the Power button to turn the
printer on and start the test.
The printer tests the internal RAM and the internal program memory and then prints
the configuration report
3. When the printer finishes the configuration report, press the Paper Feed button.
The A714 prints instructions for changing the configuration.
4. Press the Paper Feed button again.
5. The A714 prints the current parameters for the first set of options, Printer
Configuration. Wait ten seconds and the printer prints the next set of options.
6. Repeat step 5 until you get to Serial Parameters, and then press the Paper Feed
button.
The printer prints the options for the first serial parameter, Baud Rate.
