Using the Thin Client
70
AX3000 Models 80 and 85 - User's Manual
This chapter covers use of the Axel Thin Client.
4.1 - SWITCHING ON THE THIN CLIENT
Press the on/off switch to power-on the thin client.
The very first operation is the firmware decompression in the RAM. The next operations depend on
the thin client settings.
If the active network interface is the Ethernet one, and the 802.1X security is not enabled, and the
IP address is static the boot step is completed. Else the following operation must be done:
-
Network connection
:
- Ethernet: detection of the network cable
- Wireless: locating the access point
-
Network authentication
: 802.1X security
-
IP address
: DHCP protocol
The following operations are performed when the thin client is turned-on:
-
Auto-configuration
(optional): checks over the network if a new firmware/configuration is
available. If yes the thin client reboots again for the new firmware/configuration to take effect
(for more information see Chapter 2.2)
-
Active Directory Logon
: if AD is enabled a logon screen is displayed (for more information
see Chapter 4.2)
-
Auto-Connection
: some connections may be opened automatically:
- Screen sessions (if the 'auto-connection' parameter is set to 'yes'). See Chapter 4.4.
- Auxiliary port sessions: if the associated service is a client service (tty, telnet or
prt5250) and if the 'auto-connection' parameter is set to 'yes'.
If multiple screen sessions are auto-connected, the first active screen session is displayed.
-
Local Desktop
: if no screen session is connected, the local desktop is displayed (see
Chapter 4.3).
4.2 - ACTIVE DIRECTORY LOGON
When the AD authentication is enabled (see Chapter 3.2.8), a logon box is displayed immediately
after the thin client boots up:
