INTRODUCTION
The AVR-G1-B-P-EMRA-R5-RP-IM is a customized high performance, GPIB and
RS232-equipped instrument capable of generating up to +240V at repetition rates up to
10 kHz into resistive loads of 1.6 kΩ or higher, with a capacitance of up to 900 pF. The
pulse width is variable from 3 us to 30 us, and the duty cycle may be as high as 30%.
The rise time is < 10 ns into a resistive load, and the fall time is < 20 ns.
This instrument includes a current monitor. The monitor circuit samples the output
current at the end of the pulse, and reports it on the front panel LCD. The value may
also be queried remotely using the “meas:ampl?” command. The current monitor circuit
also provides a rear-panel “M” BNC connector. The voltage waveform on this connector
is proportional to the output current (V
M
= I
OUT
x 2V / 100 mA), for currents of up to 250
mA. The voltage waveform is pulsed, similar to the main output. It is not a DC output.
The AVR-G1-B-P-EMRA-R5-RP-IM includes an internal trigger source, but it can also
be triggered or gated by an external source. A front-panel pushbutton can also be used
to trigger the instrument. The output pulse width can be set to follow an input trigger
pulse width.
The AVR-G1-B-P-EMRA-R5-RP-IM features front panel keyboard and adjust knob
control of the output pulse parameters along with a four line by 40-character backlit
LCD display of the output amplitude, pulse width, pulse repetition frequency, and delay.
The instrument includes memory to store up to four complete instrument setups. The
operator may use the front panel or the computer interface to store a complete
“snapshot” of all key instrument settings, and recall this setup at a later time.
The instrument is protected against overload conditions (such as short circuits) by an
automatic control circuit. An internal power supply monitor removes the power to the
output stage for five seconds if an average power overload exists. After that time, the
unit operates normally for one second, and if the overload condition persists, the power
is cut again. This cycle repeats until the overload is removed.
This instrument is intended for use in research, development, test and calibration
laboratories by qualified personnel.
INCLUDED OPTIONS
-R5 Option: Rack-mount kit.
-RP Option: The output is on the rear panel, instead of on the front panel.
-IM Option: Provides a digital current monitor circuit, as well as an analog current
monitor waveform (V
M
= I
OUT
x 2V / 100 mA).
