Static Checks for 686 / 686 HT Printers
1.
Stacker:
With an ohmmeter, check continuity between the main stacker
roller, which has the belts on it, and the chassis ground. Chassis ground
can be any screw near the serial cable. Check that these two important
enhancements are functioning:
a) Check the stacker-mounting knob has a
large washer installed. Make sure to tighten
the knob all the way.
2.
Ink arbors:
With an ohmmeter, check for
continuity on the two ink arbors and three
ink turn rollers. Place one lead of the
ohmmeter on the arbor and the other on
the chassis ground screw.
3.
Printhead Static Protections
. Check for proper installation.
a)
Static Brush
. Make sure the brush is
installed and just barely touches the ink.
Too much dragging and they wear - too
little contact and they don’t dissipate the
static.
