Change of control station

If on a vessel several control stations exist, the active command can be transferred from one control station to another, a
so-called change of control station can be carried out. For vessels with classification approval a control station release is
to be switched, if necessary, which is described in a separate description of the remote control and rudder system. The
control of the propulsion system is always possible from the active control station only, a lever movement at the passive
control station does not have any effect on the propulsion system.

An essential precondition for a change of control station is that the cruising state of the vessel (engine speed and gear
position) does not change. This edge condition is ensured by a procedure that must be observed during the change of
control station. It is described in the following:
To initiate a change of control station the button COMMAND is to be pressed at a passive control station. If in case of
multiple-engine systems several buttons COMMAND are provided at one control station, any button COMMAND at this
passive control station can be activated to initiate the change of control station.
After pressing the button at the passive control station, the active command remains at the previous control station first.
There are two cases to be distinguished:
The control head lever of the requesting control station is within the same range as the lever of the active control
station.
In this case the lamp flashes and the buzzer beeps in rapid sequence. This signals that a continuation of the change
of control station is possible.
The control head lever of the requesting control station is not within the same range as the lever of the active control
station.
In this case the lamp flashes and the buzzer beeps in slow sequence. This signals that a continuation of the change
of control station is not possible. The control head lever of the requesting control station must be moved to the same
range as the lever of the active control station.
