Assignment of Channel to Groups 

 

 

        

Select “Voice System Administration” menu   

        

Select “Voice Equipment” menu 

 

 

        

Select “ACTIONS” button, this will bring up the Actions menu. 
Select “Assign/Change” option 

 

 

                     

From the Assign/Change screen, select “Channels to Groups” 
option.       
 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

      

By default all channels are assigned to group 2.  The dedicated 
MWI channel 

must

 be assigned to a 

different group

 to ensure 

that the same channel that turns on MWI lamp turns off the lamp.  
Do this by assigning the MWI to device 3.  

 

This is a switch limitation.  Dedicated MWI channels that are   
assigned to a different group must also be “unassigned” from 
group 2.  If more than one dedicated MWI channel, each channel 
should be in a different group.  By convention the highest 
channels are used as dedicated MWI channels.  

 

NOTE: It is important that you restart the voice system after 

assigning the MWI to device 3.

Inband PBX Configuration is only used when the PBX is defined as 
a “Other or Generic” The Norstar DMI does not require these fields 
to be defined.

Select “Call Data Interface Administration” menu 

 

 

Select “MWI Administration” menu   

 

 

 

Select “MWI Parameters” Verify the MWI codes are as 

followed:

NOTE: The MWI ON/OFF codes do need to be defined. 
Program the code to turn ON message waiting as *1, and the 
message cancel code as *#1 to turn it OFF.
