5.1 CONFIGURING THE DMI-4
Please refer to the PBXLink DMI-4 User Guide for detailed configuration
process. The PBXLink DMI-4 is configured through menus available
through the
SMDI
serial port (COM port). To access the configuration
menus through the SMDI
port, you must have the SMDI port working with
suitable terminal emulation software. In Windows NT,
hyperterminal
is
good for this. The SMDI port is in SMDI mode by default. In this mode,
it produces SMDI packets destined for the application program. To get it
out of SMDI mode and into the menus, type the following:
M <enter>
The main menu will be displayed. For example:

If nothing appears, check the serial port settings on the terminal program.
The SMDI port is always configured as:
9600 bps, 8-N-1
Assure that the following parameters are configured for the Norstar:

NOTE: This example is for systems that have more than four
ports. This setting is vital in a Norstar because the DMI4 needs
to build a name table that maps the extension names to the actual
