Outriggers
The backhoe is equipped with outriggers, which stabilise the backhoe during use and especially when moving
material to the sides.
WARNING
Risk of tipping over - Keep outriggers on ground.
For stability, the backhoe must be
lowered on the ground and the outriggers must be firmly on the ground when operating
the backhoe. Weight on the bucket can shift the centre of gravity of the equipment and
cause tipping over on slopes. Operate the backhoe only with the loader on level ground
and outriggers applied.
When ready to begin operating the backhoe, push the backhoe down so, that the front wheels of the loader lift
just off the ground.
To adjust the outriggers:
1.
There are several holes on the backhoe frame and the
outrigger. Push the adjustment pin through holes that align and
use the cotter pin to lock the adjustment pin.
Adjust the height of the outriggers so that they provide good
grip from the ground. On soft surfaces the outriggers should
be extended more so that the outriggers and the bottom of
the frame of the backhoe provide maximum grip.
Left and right side outriggers are different. The outriggers
should face forward.
In delivery configuration the outriggers may be placed upside
down. Lift the backhoe and slide the outriggers on their
correct sides.
2.
The outriggers are equipped with spikes:
On soft surfaces the spikes help to prevent the backhoe from
moving. The spikes should sink into the ground for a better
grip from the ground.
On hard surfaces turn the spikes facing upward, in this
configuration only the outriggers themselves touch the
ground along with the bottom frame of the backhoe.
