Multimedia describes a computer system that combines graphics, sound, animation, and video. The
Notebook is a multimedia system.
PCI Bus
PCI is an abbreviation for Peripheral Component Interconnect local bus. PCI bus is a specification that
defines a 32-bit data bus interface. PCI is a standard widely used by expansion card manufacturers. The
Notebook architecture is designed to comply with the current PCI bus specification.
Peripherals
Peripherals are devices attached to the computer via I/O ports. Peripheral devices allow your computer
to perform an almost limitless variety of specialized tasks. The Monitor-Integrated PC is equipped with
several I/O ports for connecting peripheral devices such as a printer, a modem, or even a joystick.
POST
POST is an acronym for Power On Self Test. When you turn on the computer, it will first run though the
POST, a series of software-controlled diagnostic tests. The POST checks system memory, the mother-
board circuitry, the display, the keyboard, the diskette drive, and other I/O devices.
Prompt
A prompt is a message displayed by the system to inform the user to enter data or a command. The
DOS prompt appears after the system boots up.
PS/2 Port
PS/2 ports are based on IBM Micro Channel Architecture. This type of architecture transfers data
through a 16-bit or 32-bit bus. The Notebook is equipped with one PS/2 port.
