About the LCD display screen
The graphic LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) screen presents measurement results, instrument
status, the current soft-key legends and menus, to set and control the CTR5000.
The LCD screen is designed for anti-reflective-viewing under normal ambient lighting. The LCD
contrast may be set via a menu option (its brightness is fixed).
3.3
LED indicator
The LED, to the right of the LCD is used to show normal operation (green) and is lit whenever
the bridge is in standby mode. In this mode, the LCD display is turned off, saving power and
prolonging the display’s life; the remainder of the electronics is still powered normally during
standby and the instrument will continue collecting data.
The LED will flash orange when a fault condition is present (overload, , etc). It will flash green
when an open-probe is seen.
The LED will turn red if a serious problem is detected.

Keypad
The instrument’s keys are grouped by type and consist of six
soft-keys
and a twelve-key
numerical
keypad. The
soft-keys
are used to access data and/or functions within the
instrument.
The CTR5000 keypad is shown in detail below. The keys are used to select the various
functions and menu options and to control the instrument. Generally, all commonly used
functions are available at the top level and no more than one or two menu levels are
required for other commonly used settings. A few (infrequently used options) require three or
four menu levels. Operation is very simple and straightforward, once familiar with the
instrument.
It may help to have the instrument to hand when reading through these sections. Refer to
section 5 for a detailed description of how to use the keys to operate the instrument.
