Footage encryption
3) Viewing encrypted footage
Encrypted footage is decrypted with the secret key stored inside the
asanKeystore
-file.
When playing back footage, the search tool automatically detects if the footage is encrypted, and
requests the user for the
asanKeyStore
-file location and the key store password.
There are three different ways to use the key store file:
1. Type the file path manually every time it is requested for.
2. Copy the
asanKeyStore
-file into the
.asan
-directory inside a Windows user’s home directory, so
that the
ASANTech Playback Tool
can use it automatically.
3. Copy the file into network drive and define the path in Windows
Environment Variables
(name
the variable as
asan.keystore
and give the full path including the filename as the value).
The password input can also be automatised by configuring an
Environment Variable
with the
name
asan.keystorePassword,
and the password as the value.
Note
that also other Windows users can access and read the
Environment Variables
.
