Using the Reset Button
Use the
Reset
button, on the back of the Cable Modem, to reset the modem as if
you disconnected power. You may need to reset the Cable Modem if you are having
problems connecting to the Internet.
Use a pointed non-metallic object to press this button. The photo to the left shows
the location of the
Reset
button.
The
Reset
button is recessed to prevent accidental resets.
Using the Standby Button
The Cable Modem has a
Standby
button on top of the unit. Press the
Standby
but-
ton to switch between:
•
Inactive (normal) mode
: the Ethernet and USB interfaces are connected
to the Internet. The
Online
light stays on to indicate normal mode.
•
Active (standby) mode
: the Ethernet and USB interfaces are disconnect-
ed from the Internet. Computers connected to the Ethernet and USB inter-
faces can still communicate with each other, but not with the Internet. The
Online
light blinks to indicate active mode.
The Cable Modem remembers the standby setting when you reset the Cable Modem
or turn it off.
The
Standby
button has no effect while the
Power
light is blinking.
