Connecting the DEx DVD-RW 2
•
Connect one end of the USB cable to the USB connector on back of the DEx DVD-RW 2.
•
Plug AC/DC power adapter into an electrical outlet.
•
Plug the other end of the cable into the Power Socket on back of your DEx DVD-RW 2.
•
Before you connect the other end of the USB cable into your computer, make sure it is on and running.
You should have a USB 2.0 port to connect to. If you do not have a USB 2.0 port, you can purchase a
four port USB 2.0 card from ARCHOS or at your local computer retailer. A USB 1.1 port may work but it
will be extremely slow. DVD type data are very large and thus the throughput of USB 2.0 is required to
operate satisfactorily.
2.2 Disconnecting the DEx DVD-RW 2
•
Before unplugging the USB cable from the computer, you must tell the computer that you need to
remove it. In the bottom right corner of the screen in the tray, you will see a hard disk icon with a green
arrow. Right click on this icon and then select, “Safely Remove”.
•
Within a few seconds, a message will appear on the screen indicating that you can remove the drive.
Failure to do this before disconnecting the DVD drive may cause Windows to crash.
