Installation of the piping
5.2.1
General instructions to prepare the piping
1. Make sure that:
-
the diameter of the piping is calculated for maximum flow velocities as
specified in §
.
-
the pipe connections are free of tension. Take into account the expansions
of pipes if you pump a liquid with a high temperature. It is recommended to
use expanders and correct supports for the pipes to remove tension and to
inhibit the transfer of vibrations to the product.
-
you avoid looping. If looping is unavoidable, use a downward loop instead
of an upward loop.
-
you can remove trapped air from the piping and from the product.
2. Make sure that:
-
you use long reducers to match the piping and pump connections gradually.
-
you do not use too many elbows and connection pieces.
-
you place a valve near the pump, the suction line and the discharge line, for
maintenance purposes.
5.2.2
Installation of the suction line
1. Make sure that:
-
the suction pipe is as short as possible.
-
an elbow or valve is far enough from the pump housing (at least 5x suction
line bore).
-
only full bore valves are used.
-
upward bends are avoided.
-
all welding areas and connections are fully closed.
Note
Pressure loss caused by long pipings needs compensation by using
a larger pipe diameter.
WARNING
Make sure that the flow velocity is less than 1 m/s.
