Safety Precautions
AQUOS ケータイ3
Precautions
・Do not subject handset to soap, detergent, bath powder/oil,
sea/pool water, spa/hot water, etc.
・Rinse off sea/pool water, beverage, dirt, sand, mud, etc.
immediately with fresh/tap water between 5
o
C - 35
o
C;
residue may cause malfunction if allowed to dry.
・Sand, mud, etc. allowed to harden on handset may cause
scratching or breakage.
・Do not soak handset in bath or pool; never use it in water
(including opening/closing and key operation).
・Handset is not resistant to water pressure. Avoid high-
pressure water/shower (over 6 L/min.) and water immersion.
・Do not expose handset to high humidity for long periods;
avoid prolonged use in bath/shower rooms.
・Do not use in a sauna. Do not heat with a dryer.
・Use handset within a temperature range of 5°C - 35°C and
humidity of 35% - 90%.
・Do not leave in extreme temperatures (next to a stove or in
a refrigerator).
・Volume may be low when Mic, Earpiece, or Speaker is wet;
dry handset before use (see "
・Battery, Desktop Holder, AC Charger, and other optional
accessories are not waterproof or dustproof. Do not use
in high humidity or near water (outdoors, in bathrooms,
shower rooms, sinks, etc.); may cause fire, electric shock or
malfunction. Do not bring into these locations also when not
using.
・Do not poke Earpiece, Speaker, Mic, etc. with a pointed
object. May affect water and dust resistance.
・Avoid placing handset directly on sand. Sand may penetrate
Earpiece, Speaker, etc., resulting in low volume.
・Sand, etc. getting caught in hinges may prevent handset
from opening/closing smoothly and sound gritty.
・To prevent condensation, warm handset to room
temperature before bringing it from a cold place into a
warm place such as a bathroom. If condensation occurs,
leave handset at room temperature until it is dry.
・Handset does not float on water.
・Keep handset out of heavy rain.
・Deteriorated or damaged Back Cover prevents water, dust,
and shock resistance from being maintained. Bring handset
to a SoftBank Shop.
Charging Cautions
・Never connect Micro USB plug while handset or AC Charger/
Desktop Holder are wet.
Handset is water resistant; however, if Micro USB plug is
inserted while it is wet, liquid (tap water, beverage, sea
water, pet urine, etc.) or foreign matter on handset or
Micro USB plug may cause electric shock or overheating,
burnout, fire, malfunction, burns, etc. due to short-
circuiting, etc.
・Do not touch AC Charger/Desktop Holder with wet hands.
May cause electric shock.
・Do not use AC Charger/Desktop Holder where water is
regularly in use (kitchens, bathrooms, shower rooms, etc.);
may cause fire or electric shock.
Care & Maintenance
・Proper care of rubber gasket around Battery (on Back Cover)
is crucial for continued handset water/dust resistance.
Observe the following:
・Do not remove or damage gasket. Keep it clean.
・Do not insert a sharp object into Back Cover gap. May
scratch rubber gasket and allow water/dust to enter.
・If rubber gasket around Battery (on Back Cover) is
damaged or deformed, contact a SoftBank Shop for
replacement.
・To maintain water/dust resistance, it is recommended to
replace parts every 2 years regardless of their condition.
Customer-requested replacement incurs fees and requires
handset be submitted for servicing. For details, contact a
SoftBank Shop or
Washing Handset
Wipe off dirt, sand, beverage, etc., gently with a cloth. Then
hold handset approximately 10 cm below faucet or shower
head and wash with low-pressure tap water (6 L/min. or
lower) at room temperature (5
o
C - 35
o
C). Wash with your
hands, taking care not to open Back Cover; do not use a brush
or sponge. Dry handset before use; power on after drying it
well.
・Before washing handset, make sure that Back Cover is closed
firmly.
・Do not use a washing machine or ultrasonic cleaner.
・External Device Port can accumulate dust, sand, etc. easily;
rinse well and check completely that handset is dry before
use. Any sand or water left may cause malfunction, burns or
fire.
・Do not put a cotton swab, cloth, etc. into External Device
Port when washing; water resistance may be affected
causing malfunction.
・Never place in a microwave oven to dry. May cause Battery
to leak, overheat, burst, or ignite. May also cause handset
to overheat, emit smoke, or ignite, or damage circuitry.
・Do not heat with a dryer or leave in a high-temperature
environment to dry. May warp or discolor handset, cause
malfunction, etc.
