Sound Power - Noisiness
Noise level
It is known that the sound
power level of a source
(energy radiated/time unit)
is a characteristic measure
of the source itself and does
not depend on the surroun-
ding environment. This level
allows comparisons between
different appliances.
As to measuring the sound
power level of a machine (not
in a workshop),
please refer to the following
document:
- ISO 3744 (1994)
The method proposed by the
document applies to any kind
of noise and device, provided
it is installed on a solid and
reflecting surface (the wall
behind, in case of a blower).
ISO 3744 regulations re-
quire that test environment
is deprived of reflecting
surfaces, except for the one
the device is placed upon.
This simulates as much as
possible free field conditions.
(These conditions can be
found outdoor, away from
walls or obstacles, or in a
semi-anechoic chamber).
The accuracy of the measu-
rement depends on the en-
gineering method used (2nd
degree. The reproducibility of
the results (obtained in diffe-
rent test environments) can
be expressed with a standard
deviation below 1,5 dB.
APEN GROUP has chosen
to use one-speed fans, in
order to increase the air flow
rate and the output efficiency
of the equipment, thereby
decreasing air layering in
the room. This also reduces
the time required to heat the
environment.
