Motor Circuit Contactors
5.6.1
A motor circuit contactor may be installed if required by local codes or for safety reasons. The motor circuit
contactor isolates the motor fully from the Drive to allow maintenance and may form part of a safety system.
If a contactor is employed in this way, it is essential that measures be taken to ensure that the contactor is not
commanded to open or close whilst the Drive is enabled. One way to achieve this is to employ the same PLC
that enables the Drive to be in control of the contactor via a control relay.
Ensure that shielding of the motor cable is continued on both sides of the motor circuit contactor.
