5.
Insert a soft cloth through the left endplate hole and under the carriage rail (124).
Slide the rail (124) out through the left endplate (144).
6.
Remove the Phillips screw (166) and loosen the set screw securing the printhead
adjustment lever (167) to the carriage rail (124).
7.
Make sure the cloth is still inserted through the left endplate hole. Guide the new
rail (124) through the hole, allowing it to slide on the cloth, through the carriage
(160) to the right endplate (82). Remove the cloth and seat the shoulder of the rail
(124) into the left endplate hole while guiding the right end of the rail through the
hole in the right endplate (82).
8.
Install eccentric clamp (101) on right end of carriage rail (124).
9.
Install the detent (169) on left endplate (144).
10.
Position the printhead adjustment lever (167) in the center detent position.
11.
Position the alignment notch on the eccentric clamp (101) in the straight up
position.
12.
Secure eccentric clamp (101) with Phillips screw (97) and two set screws.
The printhead adjustment lever (167) should move easily with no binding. Check the
printhead-to-platen gap with the printhead adjustment lever (167) in the first detent
position. The gap should be 0.010” # 0.002. The technician should run a print sample and
check for “uphill” or “downhill” print. This indicates the eccentric clamp is not positioned
on the shaft correctly.
