4.3 Operation
Under normal conditions, operation of the actuator is automatic and no
operator intervention is needed.
In the event of an actuator failure, the valve can be operated by a manual
override handle (if fitted as an option).
 Remove and isolate the positioner air supply.
WARNING
When the clutch lever is operated the tension in the actuator return
springs is released, causing rapid movement of the valve. The valve
must indicate 0° (Direct acting) or 90° (Reverse acting) before
operation of the clutch lever to prevent possible injury and damage to
the gearbox.
 Ensure the valve indicates 0° (Direct acting) or 90° (Reverse acting).
 Pull out the spring loaded clutch lever (Fig 11).
 Rotate the clutch lever clockwise until engagement takes place.
 Turn the handle to position the valve.
Note
Anti-clockwise lever movement disengages manual override and returns the
system to automatic operation.
When under manual control, the valve remains locked in the last set
position.
