5.4 Switching
off
the instrument
Notice! Risk of damage!
If the spectrometer is not used for longer than a day (weekends, vacation
shutdown), please switch off the instrument.
If you do not work with the system for an extended period of time, the X-ray
tube must be operated in standby mode for at least one hour once a month.
This procedure is also required if the instrument is not to be used afterwards.
To switch off the instrument, proceed as follows:
1. Click on the
symbol on the Windows task bar and exit the instrument
software program.
A window opens.
2. Click on “Shutdown”. The connection between the PC and the instrument is
broken.
3. Confirm the security query and also confirm the shutoff of the high-voltage
supply.
If at this particular moment the X-ray tube is still on, the high-voltage
supply is automatically switched off in steps.
4. To end the software program, right-click on the
symbol and then click on
“Close Window”. Alternatively, you can select the “Close” symbol on the top
right of the screen.
5. Turn the key-operated switch to its horizontal position.
6. Press the “ON/OFF” button of the instrument.
7. Select the “Start” menu in the Windows user interface and then the “Exit”
command.
The computer is switched off.
The instrument is switched off.
