Furnace General Installation
The following sections give general instructions for the
installation of the gas furnaces.
Furnace Panel Removal
Note:
For the L8V1 furnace, a 1/4" nut driver is required to remove
the two screws at the top of the front panel. The front panel can
then be removed by lifting upwards.
Note:
Tinnerman clips are provided in the doc pack if the door panel
flange hole(s) becomes stripped.

Horizontal Installation in an Attic
or Crawlspace
The non-condensing furnace may be installed in an
attic or crawl space in the horizontal position by placing
the furnace on its left or right side (as viewed from the
front in the vertical position). The horizontal furnace
installation in an attic should be on a service platform
large enough to allow for proper clearances on all sides
and service access to the front of the furnace. See the
“Locations and Clearances,” p. 10
. Minimum 1.5" air
clearance is required under the furnace when in
horizontal. Support material if underneath the furnace,
must not block more than half of the vent opening area.
See
. Line contact is only permissible
between lines formed by intersections of the top and
two sides of the furnace casing and building joists,
studs, or framing.
The furnace may be placed horizontally in a crawl
space on a pad or other noncombustible material.
Place blocks underneath to support the furnace and
raise the unit for sufficient protection from moisture.
The furnace may be installed in a hanging position
using straps. The furnace should be supported at both
ends and have an additional support in the center of
the furnace in back.
