6.1 Commissioning/start-up
6.1.1 Prerequisites for commissioning/start-up
Before commissioning/starting up the pump set, make sure that the following
conditions are met:

The pump set has been properly connected to the electric power supply and is
equipped with all protection devices.
▪
The pump has been primed with the fluid to be handled. The pump has been
vented.
▪
The direction of rotation has been checked.
▪
All auxiliary connections required are connected and operational.
▪
The lubricant has been checked.
▪
After prolonged shutdown of the pump (set), the activities required for returning
the pump (set) to service have been carried out. (

DANGER
Persons in the tank during pump operation
Electric shock!
Risk of personal injury!
Danger of death from drowning!

Never start up the pump set when there are persons in the tank.
DANGER
Exceeding the operating limits
Pump casing could burst/leak!
Pressurized hot or toxic fluid could escape!
Flying parts!
▷
Maintain an adequate safety distance from pump sets which are in operation.
6.1.2 Priming and venting the pump set (dry installation only - installation type D)
DANGER
Shaft seal failure caused by insufficient lubrication
Hot or toxic fluid could escape!
Damage to the pump!

Before starting up the pump set, vent the pump and suction line and prime
both with the fluid to be handled.
1. Vent the pump and suction line and prime both with the fluid to be handled.
2. Fully open the shut-off element in the suction line.
3. Fully open all auxiliary connections (barrier fluid, flushing liquid, etc).
