4.1. Replacing the Power Supply
Hot-swapping power supplies
The Amaranten F
18
00 Series has two power supplies which provide redundancy. Both should be
connected to mains power and operating in tandem during normal operation.
Identifying a Failed Power Supply
In the event of a single power supply failure, a high pitched continuous sound will be heard coming
from the F
18
00 Series device. In normal operation there is a green LED light that is visible on the
back of each power supply. This light will not be visible on a supply if that unit has failed.
Hot-swapping a Power Supply
To hot-swap a failed power supply:
•
Remove the power supply cord from the failed unit
•
Unscrew and remove the retaining bar that crosses the back of both power supplies.
•
Unlatch and gently pull out the failed supply. With the power supply shown, the lever on the
supply much be firmly held between thumb and index-finger, and then pulled down to release
the locking mechanism.
