• A terminal or a (portable) computer with a serial port and the ability to emulate a terminal i.e.
using the Hyper Terminal software included in most Microsoft Windows installations). The ter-
minal should have the following settings: 9600 baud, No parity, 8 bits and 1 stop bit.
• An RS-232 cable with appropriate connectors. The F 18 00 Series package includes an RS-232
null-modem cable.
To connect a terminal to the console port, follow these steps:
1. Set the terminal protocol as described previously.
2. Connect one of the connectors on the RS-232 cable supplied, directly to the console port on the
F
18 00 Series device.
3. Connect the other end of the cable to the terminal or the serial connector of the computer run-
ning the communications software.
