4.3  Termination Bus Plates

Termination Bus Plates

NOTE: Before installing the termination bus plates, ensure

that any bolts located above the top center and top right

batteries are shielded using the screw finishing caps.

 See

Figure 6 on page 8 and note the five finishing caps over the screws

at the top of the stack

Step 1.

Locate the two termination bus plates. The plates are pre-

assembled with input bus isolators (see Figure 9)

 Check to

ensure the isolators are secure around the plates. Tightly

secure the termination bus plates onto the -48V and +48V

input bus bars using (2) 3/8 16 x 1" socket cap screws with

split and flat washers.

Step 2.

Insert

(6) 1/4-20 x 1 3/4" hex screws with flat washer

through the top of the battery termination plate and through

the cell terminals. Next, secure the tie straps as shown

using a flat washer, split washer, and 1/4-20 hex nut (

see

Figure 10)

Step 3.

After adjustment, tighten all bolts securely. All split lock

washers should be engaged and compressed. Use a

torque wrench to tighten the terminal plate to the negative

terminal posts. Consult the battery manufacturer torque

specification but typically 100 in

·

lbs is used.

Step 4.

Replace the plastic termination bus covers using the

hardware that they came assembled to the DCX LP unit

with.

Step 5.

Fix the plastic termination plate shields over the termination

plates using the 6-32 x 3/8 pan head screws. The shields

are to be attached to the isolation bars surrounding the

termination plates.

Step 6.

Ensure that the DCX LP unit is securely mounted on the

top of the battery stack.

Step 7.

Once mechanical mounting is complete, the remaining

steps include electrical connections
