as soon as the drain plug is removed. Raising the trailer
tongue slightly before removing the drain plug will help
keep fluid contained in the tray. Lower the tongue to
begin draining the tank.
3. If desired, connect a drain hose, fitted with a 1/2” npt
coupler, to the drain hole, and direct the hose into the
approved container.
4. Open the control valve (if applicable).
5. Once the fluid has drained into the container, close the
control valve (if applicable), and replace the drain plug,
tightening securely.

Elevating The Heater Trailer With A Jack
WARNING
Crush Hazard
Working under a trailer being elevated only by a jack could
result in death or serious injury. Always support the trailer
with appropriate jack stands or blocking before working
under it.
It may become necessary to elevate the heater trailer with
a jack to change a tire or service the axle. Use a jack rated
for a minimum of 4 tons (3.6 t) to elevate the trailer from one
side. It is recommended that jack stands or blocking rated
for a minimum of 4 tons (3.6 t) be used to hold the trailer in
an elevated position when doing lengthy service procedures.
Elevate the heater trailer by positioning an appropriate jack
immediately behind the rear spring bracket. Elevate the
heater trailer only as high as necessary to accomplish the
intended task.
To elevate the heater trailer with a jack
1. Place the heater trailer on a firm stable level surface that
will support the total weight of the trailer, and support the
force exerted on the ground by the jack.
2. Use the tongue jack to level the heater trailer front to
back.
3. Chock the front and rear of the tires of the heater trailer
opposite the side that you are intending to elevate.
4. Using a jack rated for a minimum of 4 tons (3.6 t), locate
a point immediately behind the rear axle on the side you
intend to elevate. Raise the jack until it contacts the bot-
tom of the trailer. Then, elevate the trailer to the neces-
sary height.
5. Block the trailer in the elevated position with jack stands
or appropriate blocking.
NOTICE
Elevating the heater trailer by jacking or supporting it on
the axles or suspension could result in damage to the axle.
Always support the heater trailer by the chassis.
Servicing The Axles
The axles under the heater trailer require periodic mainte-
nance and service. Items such as brake adjustment, inspec-
tion and replacement of brake linings, and wheel bearing
adjustment and repacking are required to maintain the axle.
Contact your authorized dealer for axle service.
Checking The Tire Pressure
Use a tire gauge to check the tire pressure; add or release air
as needed. See Specifications for correct cold tire inflation
pressure.
WARNING
Control Hazard
Towing a trailer with worn, damaged or underinflated tires
could result in death or serious injury. Always replace worn
or damaged tires promptly. Always keep tires inflated to
proper cold tire inflation pressure.
Fan and Jack Shaft Bearing Lubrication
The fan and jack shaft bearings require regular lubrication.
Refer to the Maintenance Chart for service interval.
To lubricate bearings
Locate the grease fitting station (
A
, Figure 29) on the right
side of the engine compartment.
Apply one pump general purpose grease (NLGI 3 or equiva-
lent) to each of the grease fittings.
Check Fan Belts
Check the fan belts (
B
, Figure 29) for wear or damage, as
well as for correct tension. Refer to the Maintenance Chart
for service interval.
NOTE: Fan belts are shown with fan guard removed.
Correct fan belt tension is 0.5” (1,27 cm) deflection.
If wear, damage, or incorrect belt tension is noted, contact
your authorized dealer.
