Electrical precautionary measures
DANGER
Before working on the electrical components of a
module, a module string, or the photovoltaic
generator, switch off the current of the
photovoltaic generator. This prevents the
formation of a dangerous electric arc while
creating or disconnecting electrical connections.
A photovoltaic generator whose current has been
switched off may still be live with high DC
voltages.
Protect yourself at all costs against possible
electric shock.
WARNING
Only use components that are in perfect
condition when installing the photovoltaic
system. Do not install any solar modules with
visible damage to glass panes, the insulating
backsheet, or the insulation of electrical
connections.
Do not operate damaged solar modules that
have already been installed and/or con-
nected. Do not use cables or connectors
with visible damages to the wiring.
Leave the connecting cables and connectors
of the module principally unchanged. Use
only approved connection components to
connect the modules to other system parts,
e.g. inverters or string diodes.
WARNING
During the installation or maintenance of live
parts, only use approved, insulated tools.
Work only in dry conditions whenever
possible. Ensure that the electrical con-
nections of the solar modules, the cables
used during installation, and the tools used
are all dry.
WARNING
In order to prevent a dangerous generation of electrical
energy while handling aleo modules and module wiring,
where possible, fully cover the front sides of the
modules with an opaque material.
For reasons of personal safety, proceed as follows:
Disconnect the photovoltaic generator from
the inverter with the isolator.
If the photovoltaic generator is earthed,
disconnect it from its earthing. Opening the
isolator almost always switches off the
earthing.
Ensure the photovoltaic system cannot be
accidentally turned on again.
Check that the inverter is currentless and
that the PV generator is unearthed.
If there are parallel connected module strings,
electrically disconnect the affected module string and
check that electrical disconnection has occurred.
Only carry out work on the module after completing all
of the above steps.
NOTICE
Before connecting or disconnecting electrical
components, switch off the current of the photo-
voltaic generator.
If there are parallel connected module strings and
work needs to be done on a particular module
string, the current of the module string should also
be switched off.
This prevents possible damage to the bypass
elements of the modules.
