Notes and restrictions

The following installation notes and restrictions apply to the 3600 and 3600+ MainStreet
systems. Note that some of these notes and restrictions are not specific to this Release 9.0 load
but also apply to previous releases of the 3600 and 3600+ MainStreet software.

4.1 Installation notes

The 3600+ MainStreet Timing card must always be installed before the 3600+ MainStreet
Control card; otherwise, the Control card will not operate properly.

When using Octal E1 or Octal T1 card redundancy on the 3600+ MainStreet node, ensure
that the paired slots are adjacent to each other with the first card in the lower-numbered
slot (for example, slots 1 and 2 are paired,

not

 2 and 3).

Upgrading the 3600+ MainStreet node from Release 7.1 and earlier releases requires
installation of the MEM2 module, as this module is needed for Release 9.0 operation. This
is not an issue when upgrading from Release 8.0, as Release 8.0 also requires the
3600+ MainStreet to have an MEM2 module installed.

Upgrades from previous releases running on the DMM2 (3600 MainStreet and 3600
MainStreet multishelf systems) are supported.
