9.1.
Connection Scenarios
There are four different types of installation scenarios that can be accomplished with the UXBM’s. Each
one will require a specific type of harnessing that is determined at time of ordering. The following
scenarios are:
Combined Resistance Readings with No Cell Temperatures
Combined Resistance Reading with Cell Temperatures
Discrete Resistance Readings with No Cell Temperatures
Discrete Resistance Readings with Cell Temperatures
Combined Resistance Readings with No Cell Temperatures
Installing a combined resistance reading system utilizes a harness with part number 1102-190. This type
of harness will provide a combined resistance reading of the cell and the adjacent connecting strap as
one value. No individual cell temperatures are monitored.
Combined Resistance Reading with Cell Temperatures
Same as above but uses an additional harness with part number 1102-192 for monitoring each cell
temperature.
Discrete Resistance Readings with No Cell Temperatures
Installing a discrete resistance reading system utilizes harness with part number 1102-191. This type of
harness will provide an individual reading of the internal resistance of the cell separate from the
intercell or interconnect resistance reading providing two separate values. No individual cell
temperatures are monitored.
Discrete Resistance Readings with Cell Temperatures
Same as Discrete Resistance Readings with No Cell Temperatures, but uses an additional harness with
part number 1102-192 for monitoring each cell temperature.
9.2.
Tab Washer Installation Details
Tab washers are washers that allow connection of the monitoring system to the battery. Some tab
washers are supplied with single or double tabs. The features being installed will decide the tab washer
style, where and how many tab washers are to be installed. The actual placement of these tab washers
in relation to the battery post and existing hardware is critical. Reviewing the following examples will
help illustrate tab washer placement.
Not all battery post will require three tabs as indicated by the figures below. Reference the detailed
sections that will illustrate how many and where to install these tab washers.
Note
: Never substitute tab washers with tab washers that were not supplied within the
installation kit. Using after market or other types can potentially cause an error in the resistance
readings.
