1. DESCRIPTION
1.1. The SEM2000C01
The SEM2000C01 is a synchronization master generator for use in synchronous Ethernet
networks. It provides two electrical ports that operate at 10Mbit/s, 100Mbit/s and
1Gbit/s and one optical port that can operate at 1Gbit/s and 2.5Gbit/s.
The electrical ports can automatically negotiate their datarates as well as operation in
full duplex or half duplex modes (FD/HD). The operating mode and datarates can also be
user-selected. The optical port must be configured according to the capabilities of the
SFP modules installed.
The ports of the SEM2000C01 always operate in master mode, guaranteeing that all the
links with any equipment that connects to the SEM2000C01 will use its reference clock.
The reference clock can be sourced from a GNSS receiver module installed in the same
mounting frame, such as the GPS2001C01, or from an internal oscillator with a
frequency stability of ±1ppm. Information regarding the reference being used is
communicated to the devices connected to the SEM2000C01 via the Ethernet
Synchronization Message Channel (ESMC) as per the ITU-T G.8264 standard.
It is possible to monitor the SEM2000C01 status remotely using a communications
controller module installed in the same mounting frame. In addition, certain controller
modules provide SNMP management and the ability to record events in a file including
date and time information for further analysis.
The SEM2000C01 is a TL2000 terminal line module and can be housed in a two rack unit
(2 RU) UR2000 mounting frame.
