The volumetric buccal mask (8) should be placed gently against the profile of the
mouth, while the nose should rest on the outside of the mask. The mouthpiece, on
the other hand, (7) should be inserted between the lips: for the effectiveness of the
therapy it is necessary that the user inhales through the mouth and exhales through
the nose. If the user exhales through the mouth, the valve (6) placed on the lid
allows for the exhalation of the exhaled air (Fig. (D).
The paediatric mask (9) should be placed gently on the patient’s face to cover both
the nose and the mouth.
Do not clog the valve during use (Fig. (D).
If the medicine contained in the ampoule has finished or you wish to stop temporarily
the treatment, turn off the aerosol supply device or close the air supply. At the end
of therapy, a small amount of fluid may remain inside the ampoule; this does not
affect the treatment.
3 - CLEANING, DISINFECTION AND STERILIZATION
To carry out these operations, make sure that the power cord is not connected
to the electrical system and that the Alvea ampoule and the hose are not
connected to the device.
If it is necessary to clean, disinfect or sterilize this medical device using methods
different than those described in the chapter, check whether this is possible, by
consulting the technical data sheet that can be requested to the manufacturer.
To avoid the risk of microbial contamination, Alvea should be cleaned, disinfected and,
if necessary, sterilized after each treatment and before use, following the instructions
carefully. Before being cleaned, disinfected or sterilised, the parts of the device must
be disassembled as follows:
- unplug the hose
- remove the mask or the mouthpiece (7, 8 or 9) from the ampoule (1, 3, 4)
- remove the lid (4) from the upper body of the ampoule (1)
- remove the upper body of the ampoule (1) from the lower body (3)
3.1 - CLEANING
Once the ampoule parts have been disassembled, masks and mouthpiece can
be washed with hot water (about 40 °C) using detergent (dosed according to the
