Make sure there are no strange sounds come
from any part.
2. Function Checks
2–2 Lower control checks
Do the checks first with the lower control
panel, then with the upper control panel.
Step 9
Check that the safety systems work properly.
– Operation stop: push the emergency stop
button while operating the boom, and
make sure that both the boom operation
and the engine stop.
– Emergency pump: Make sure that the boom
can be operated while the emergency
pump is being operated.
Step 10
Check for oil leaks from the hoses, piping and
hydraulic equipment.
Step 11
Check for abnormalities in the boom extension
cable.
– Check that there is no excessive play during
boom extension.
– Check that there are no loosened or rattling
nuts on the cable ends.
Step 12
Leave the machine for a few minutes with the
boom fully extended, and fully raised. Check
visually that the boom does not descend on
its own.
Step 13
Make sure the warning buzzer sounds for
about 3 seconds after the key switch has been
turned ON.
If the buzzer does not sound, the tilt warning
device may not be functioning properly. Have
this checked immediately.
DANGER
If work is continued when the tilt
warning device is not functioning
properly, there is a possibility that the
machine will tip over.
Step 14
Put the safety harness on and get on the
platform.
After getting on the platform, immediately
hook the safety harness to the designated
location.
Step 15
Rotate the platform and make sure that the
platform rotates smoothly without excessive
free play.
Step 16
Check that all safety systems are functioning
properly.
– Operation stop: Push the emergency stop
button while operating the boom, and
make sure that both the boom operation
and the engine stop.
– Foot switch: while operating the boom,
release the foot switch, and make sure the
boom operation stops.
– Emergency pump: Make sure that the boom
can be operated while the emergency
pump is being operated.
2–2 Upper control checks
If no abnormalities are revealed in steps 1-16,
check the following using the upper control
panel:
DANGER
• The boom must be fully retracted, and
its angle under the horizontal before
checking.
• Make sure the doors of the covers are
well closed and locked before doing
work.
Doors opening suddenly through
the movements of the machine is
dangerous.
