Lighting Mode
GrowControl features five (5) different lighting modes for maximum
flexibility:
Set the lighting mode:
1.
Enter the Configuration menu
2.
Wait until the Lighting Mode / Off Delay Timer menu appears
1.
Press ALT and navigate to the lighting mode variable
2.
Press ENTER to select the lighting mode variable
3.
Use the arrow keys to adjust the lighting mode.
Note: Only adjust the right most digit; the first three must remain “+00”.
Acceptable Values: +000 to +004
Setting to any value other than 0-4 will prevent the controller from functioning properly!
Mode 0 – 24-Hour Timer
In this mode lighting (and day/night mode) is controlled by a 24 hour on/off timer. Day mode will begin when the lighting
timer activates and ends when the lighting timer de-activates, regardless of sun levels.
Mode 1 – 24 Hour Timer w/Photo Cell Cancel
In this mode lighting (and day/night mode) is controlled by a 24 hour on/off timer. The photo sensor will turn off the lights
when ever the sun light levels are above the solar set point. Day mode will begin when the lighting timer activates and ends
when the lighting timer de-activates, regardless of sun levels.
Mode 2 – Add Duration at Sun Set
In this mode lighting is operated for a set duration (HH:MM up to 99:59) each time the solar levels fall below the solar set
point (sun set.) Day/Night mode is determined by the solar set point and the lighting status. Day mode begins when the sun
rises and ends when the lights turn off.
Mode 3 – Fixed Duration
In this mode lighting is operated when the sun sets if the sun exposure time has been less than the lighting duration time
(HH:MM up to 99:59). Lights will operate for the remainder of the lighting duration time after the sun has set. Day/Night
mode is determined by the solar set point and the lighting status. Day mode begins when the sun rises and ends when the
lights turn off (or when the sun goes down, in the case when the sun is present long enough to fulfill the duration timer
requirement and the lights do not come on.)
Mode 4 – Natural Duration
In this mode lighting (and day/night mode) is controlled by the solar set point. Day mode begins when the sun rises and ends
when the sun sets.
Solar Set Point
The solar set point determines when the controller differentiates between day and night. Solar readings are taken in a scale
from 0-100%. In lighting modes 1-4 sun rise and sun set are determined by the solar light level. The solar light level is not
used in mode 0 and its setting does not have any effect.
Selecting a set point:
It is recommended that you start with a low value such as 10%. Observe the percentage readings as light levels fall to
determine when you want the controller to differentiate between night and day.
Note: The solar set point has a built-in hysteresis of 4% to prevent erroneous switching. This means that sun set will occur at
the set point and sun rise will occur at 4 + the set point.
Acceptable Values: 0 – 96
Humidity Mode
The humidity mode determines how GrowControl will operate the humidity output and whether or not the ventilation output
will operate based on high humidity. When “Humid Mode” is set to 0 the humidity output will operate as a humidification
output and will use the “Humidify Set” set points to raise humidity levels; the Ventilation output will use the “Dehumidify Set”
set points to lower humidity levels. When “Humid Mode” is set to 1 the humidity output will operate as a de-humidification
output and will use the “Dehumidify Set” set points to lower humidity levels; the Ventilation output will not use humidity data
and will be operated only on the “Cooling Temp Set” set points.
Acceptable Values: 0 – 1
